Big Heads with Michelle Solorzano
Big Heads brings Michelle Solorzano's large-form ceramic head workshop to Juniper Clay Shop for two full days in Joshua Tree. The workshop runs Saturday and Sunday, August 1 and 2, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Students work from reference images of the front, sides, and back of a head, then build a larger-than-life hollow form with slab-building techniques. The class focuses on facial proportions, basic anatomy, internal supports, pushing features from the inside of the form, additive modeling, and closing the back of the head with a spiral flat-coil technique. The workshop is open to all levels, and finished pieces are expected to reach 18 to 24 inches tall. Registration is $450 for the full two-day workshop.
