Chair-ity Auction

Hi-Desert Artists turns the gallery over to a roomful of transformed chairs for Chair-ity Auction, a free art fundraiser running through Sunday, June 14. Local artists have painted, rebuilt, and decorated chairs into one-of-a-kind pieces, and visitors can stop in during the gallery’s posted fundraiser hours to see the work and place silent bids. The display and bidding hours run Sundays from noon to 3 p.m., Mondays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. through June 14. The closing day adds a small celebration: an ice cream social begins at noon, followed by a live auction at 2 p.m. led by auctioneer Ruben Rodriguez. The roster named by the organizer includes Jen Shakti, Snake Jagger, Julianne Elliott, Bonnie Brady, John Genesta, Paul Donaldson, Barry Scanlan, Krista Wargo, Janice Taitel, Phil Miller, Ed Keesling, Tracie Schatz, Esther Shaw, and Constance Walsh. Admission is free; bids and auction purchases support the fundraiser.
