Creative Cafe: Scratchboard

Creative Cafe returns to the Food for Thought Cafe at Joshua Tree Retreat Center with an evening dedicated to scratchboard art. Using a simple bamboo skewer, you’ll scratch through rich black ink to reveal bright silver lines—perfect for desert horizons, blooming Joshua Tree botanicals, or whatever images the high desert stirs up. All ages and experience levels are welcome, and all materials are provided, with outdoor seating available when the weather cooperates. Led by Joshua Tree artist and educator Jillian Sandell, this is a relaxed, drop‑in, donation‑based workshop (suggested $5–$20). Food and drinks are available for purchase at the cafe but are not required to participate.
