Sienna II Solar Project Appeal Hearing

10:00 amJan 27
MBCA

On Tuesday morning, January 27, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors will hear the Morongo Basin Conservation Association’s appeal of the Sienna II solar and battery storage project proposed for Lucerne Valley. The 1,852‑acre, 525‑megawatt facility would sit in the Scenic Highway 247 corridor on desert lands that locals rely on for open views, wildlife habitat, and dust control. MBCA’s appeal argues that the project conflicts with key Renewable Energy and Conservation Element (RECE) policies in the County General Plan and that its environmental review underplays impacts to soils, air quality, water consumption, and the region’s rural character. Community members are encouraged to show up, stay informed, and, if they wish, offer public comment in defense of the High Desert’s working landscapes and scenic highway. The hearing takes place at the County Government Center in downtown San Bernardino, with video-conference access from the Bob Burke Government Center in Joshua Tree and the High Desert Government Center in Hesperia. The meeting is free and open to the public; visit MBCA’s website for agenda details and guidance on participating in the hearing.
