PG's editorial team lives in the Morongo Basin and verifies listings firsthand — general directories rely on user submissions and often carry outdated or inaccurate data for rural desert communities.
Mojave Moon Apothecary is bringing the ocean into the desert with The Nautilus Room: Oceanic Curiosities, an immersive marine natural-history exhibit in the shop's back room at the Historic Plaza in Twentynine Palms.
The installation gathers oceanic specimens, preserved coastal forms, maritime antiques, and Victorian parlor-room atmosphere into a hands-on environment for visitors of all ages. Source material describes shells, fossils, coral, sea urchins, starfish, and other sea-life specimens, with some pieces available for purchase and others simply there to view. Mojave Moon has also said that 10 percent of exhibit sales will support Cabrillo Marine Aquarium in San Pedro.
The exhibit is open during Mojave Moon's regular store hours, with one calendar occurrence per open day rather than a single continuous multi-month listing. Current venue-owned hours list Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; older mirrors list Sunday beginning at noon, so the calendar follows the current Mojave Moon website.
