Stephen Fredericks leads families into the Barker Dam area for an introduction to rock scrambling on Saturday, October 17, from 3 to 6 p.m. The moderate outing covers under two miles and includes uneven terrain, scrambling and tight spaces.
The program is open to ages 8 and older; children younger than 12 must attend with an adult. Meet at Barker Dam Parking Lot in Joshua Tree National Park. Park admission and transportation aren't included. Tickets are $40 plus a $2.85 fee. As of September 10, registration listed seven tickets remaining.
